Homeless in Alaska is working to Expose Corruption and Works to End Homelessness.
Homeless in Alaska, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Alaska, announced today its mission to expose corruption in the state’s homeless industry and advocate for meaningful solutions to help those in need.
While over $50 million in taxpayer funds are allocated each year to help Alaska’s homeless population, much of this money is funneled into the hands of a few large organizations that are failing to make progress. These organizations have created a “homeless industrial complex” that benefits from perpetuating the problem rather than solving it. Homeless in Alaska is working to redirect funds away from corrupt organizations and into effective programs providing shelter, healthcare, job opportunities and a path forward for those experiencing homelessness.
“The money is there, but it’s being wasted and mismanaged,” said the spokes person Homeless in Alaska. “We need to put an end to the political deals and backroom handouts, hold organizations accountable, and focus on evidence-based solutions that actually work. Our goal is to cut through the corruption, follow the money and put an end to ‘homelessness as a business model’ in our state.”
Homeless in Alaska conducts in-depth research and investigations to identify waste and abuse, files public records requests to increase transparency, and proposes policy changes to better allocate funds and resources. The organization also works directly with homeless individuals by connecting them to existing resources and advocating on their behalf. Homeless in Alaska aims to give the homeless population a voice and platform to share their stories in an effort to humanize the issue and drive real change.
“The only way we make progress is by exposing the truth, holding leadership accountable, and implementing solutions that have been proven to work,” said Homeless in Alaska. “We all want the same thing: an end to homelessness in Alaska. It’s time we work together, follow the facts, and do what’s right. Homeless in Alaska won’t stop fighting until we get there.”
